# How to choose who can move deals into stages?

Restricting partners from moving deals into certain stages, such as *closed won* or *closed lost*, is handy as it allows you to have control over maintaining the quality of the data in the system. It prevents partners from closing deals unintentionally.

In this article, we will show you how you can gain greater control over deal stages.

## How to restrict access?

You can find the settings that enable you to restrict access by following the steps below:

* Go to **the Account** page
* Then click on **Deals**
* Scroll to the **Deal Pipeline** section

Once there, edit a deal stage by clicking the **Edit** button

## Restricting access to some partners

For instance, if you want to ensure that only some partners can move deals into the Closed Won stage, click on the **Edit** button and toggle on the **Restrict access** button

You will have the option to decide which partners can move deals to this stage under **Programs,** and once done, click **OK.** All partners in the selected programs will be allowed to move deals into this stage.

## Restricting access to everyone

You might want to ensure that no one can move deals into stages.

After you have toggled the **Restrict access** button, under **Programs**, instead of choosing a partner program, leave the **Programs** field empty. Once you have done that, click **OK.**

This will ensure that only you or your channel managers can move deals into the edited stage.
