# How to import your accounts with a CSV data source?

Before Kiflo can detect overlaps, it needs your list of accounts. This article explains how to upload your customers, opportunities, and prospects using a CSV data source.

## Prerequisites

* You need a CSV file containing the accounts you want to import. Each file should contain a single account type (prospects, opportunities, or customers).

## Adding a CSV data source

From **Account Mapping → Accounts**, click **Add CSV data source** in the top-right corner. (The same button is also on the **Data sources** page.)

In the **Add CSV data source** dialog:

* **Select account file**: drag and drop your CSV onto the upload area, or click to browse. The file must be a valid CSV.
* **Account type**: choose **Prospects**, **Opportunities**, or **Customers**.
* Click **Add** (disabled until a valid file and account type are selected).

Kiflo then imports the accounts from your file and begins detecting overlaps with your partners' accounts.

## What happens after importing

* Your imported accounts appear on the **Accounts** page, each tagged with the **Source** data source they came from and an **Imported date**.
* Kiflo compares your accounts against your partners' accounts and starts counting overlaps in the **Partner prospects**, **Partner opportunities**, and **Partner customers** columns.

## Tips for a clean import

* Use a separate file (and therefore a separate data source) for each account type, since the account type is set per data source.
* Make sure each account has a unique identifier. Files with duplicate external IDs may fail to import and show an **Error** status on the **Data sources** page.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs-vnext.kiflo.com/account-mapping/data-sources/import-accounts-csv-data-source.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
